January Competition Open on Photo Contest Pro

January 27 Competition is now open for entries on Photo Contest Pro

Photo Contest Pro has been set up to accept entries for our first competition of  2020.
The competition will be on Monday, January 27. Entries are due by Friday, January 24,
at 11:59 PM

This year the image size allowed has changed. In the past, images could be up to
1024 pixels in height or width.
Now images can be 1400 pixels wide and 1050 pixels high. This change is in keeping with
the New England Camera Club Council which has changed its image sizes for interclub competitions.

Here are some examples of images which can be submitted this year:
  • a landscape which is 1400 x 1050
  •  a vertical which is 800 x 1050
  •  a square image which is 1050 x 1050
  •  Note that the vertical dimension cannot be more than 1050.

If you accidentally forget to resize your images, Photo Contest Pro may still accept
them if they are not too far off.
However, everyone should strive to resize their images to conform to the guidelines.
Don't wait until the last minute to submit your images.

One last reminder - The assigned subject for January is Zoo Photography.

A MAP TO GREAT IMAGES OF HOLIDAY LIGHTS!

Our upcoming Field Trip, WED., DEC. 11, is to The Silver Lights Festival at Hubbard Park in Meriden.

This is a spectacular display with over 300,000 lights and hundreds of lighted characters throughout the 1,800-acre park.

Lighted displays can be found decorating buildings, floating on the pond, in the trees, and nestled in the grassy hills.

It’s a great time to photograph these beautiful scenes, maybe use one for your holiday cards.

We will meet @ 4:15 pm in the large parking lot in the back of the park.

Please contact Colleen Reilly at colleen@halleycomm.net if you are interested in going.

Child First Donations for our Holiday Banquet

Reminder

Child First Donations for our Holiday Banquet

Child First is a state-wide early intervention program which focuses on helping parents and children learn to interact and play creatively in their own homes.  Clinically trained social workers and case managers make weekly home visits to help the child and parent(s) play and communicate positively.  The families are struggling with poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse or cognitive issues.  The goal is to improve family functioning overall.  The toys and money donations will be used both as holiday gifts and as part of the therapeutic interventions.

The donations should be unwrapped and brought to our holiday party.  Checks can be made out to Child First.

And  thank you for your generosity.
