great bunch of photographers who love to shoot, laugh and eat!
SAT., MARCH 12 – Southford Falls State
Park | Southbury
175 Quaker Farms Rd,
Southbury, CT | Time: 10 AM - NOON
Meet at 10 AM by the picnic tables near
the lake (next to the parking lot)
Southford Falls is located on the Oxford-Southbury line. The 169-acre park has been the home to many different businesses and industries over the years. The fast-flowing waters of Eight Mile Brook drop steeply from Lake Quassapaug to the Housatonic River. This provides scenic waterfalls located at the southeast end of the park, which is a very short walk from the parking lot.
Depending on the weather, you can walk on both sides of the river for different perspectives of the falls. It’s a great opportunity to use long-exposure techniques to capture the beautiful look of smooth water cascading over the rocks.
There is also a small lake, hiking trails, and a red covered bridge. Lots of things to photograph!
Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring a tripod and shutter release cable. A neutral density and/or polarizer is also recommended.
Colleen Reilly is your Field Trip Guide for Southford Falls State Park. Please email her if you plan on attending or you have any questions. Her email is photo@colleenbreilly.com
