These holiday events have become
beloved traditions in Historic Downtown Mystic over the years and these are exciting
events to photograph the festivities of the season!
SANTA ARRIVES BY TUGBOAT

Our
journey begins with Santa Claus coming to town. Thousands gather
at the Mystic River Park to watch Santa arrive on a 60’ tugboat, the John
Paul, and to listen to the wishes of children. After a brief break,
festivities in the Park resume with the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree.

BOAT PARADE

Spectators
line both sides of the Mystic River to watch as the decorated and glowing
procession of boats float past in the 18th Annual Holiday Lighted Boat
Parade.
Come and see as decorated vessels sail
down the Mystic River just after 6PM and return to the Mystic River Park, where
spectators and judges gather. Boats are judged on creativity and team spirit,
with prizes offered in five categories: 'Most Charismatic Crew', 'Innovative
Vessel', 'Best Dressed Vessel', 'Most Holiday Spirit' and 'Miss Mystic Vessel
of Grandeur'.
Parking is available throughout the
town. Side streets can be a good place. Come early to grab a spot.This is a busy time of the year with
many visitors coming for these events, so it will be difficult for all of us to
meet up at the same time at the same spot. Please come and enjoy the
festivities on your own timetable. Downtown offers many restaurants to grab a
bite to eat and shops to explore while you are here. This is definitely a
must-see field trip!
