FALL FIELD TRIP: OCTOBER 7th, 2021: LITCHFIELD COUNTY
We are happy to announce this exciting trip to an area that is full of
photographic opportunities. Fall foliage will enhance the following
six locations!
STOP # 1: We MEET at 9:00 AM
THE RAILROAD MUSEUM OF NEW ENGLAND
242 East Main Street
Thomaston, CT
The railway station is an historic landmark which commenced operations
in 1849. It serviced all of the river communities from Winstead to Bridgeport.

MORRIS RESERVOIR
Off of Rte. 109 on right.
Plenty of off-road parking.

NEARBY FARM STAND
Mums, pumpkins, and overlook to farm buildings
BELLA LUNA gift shop with rustic exterior across the street.
STOP #4
BUDDHA ARIYAMETT ARAM TEMPLE
Rte. 109 Morris
Colorful architecture of several temples!
Established in 2002 by Laotian monks on well-manicured grounds.
STOP #5
SHRINE OF LOURDES
50 Montford Road, Litchfield
Replica of the Lourdes Grotto in France. The 170-acre shrine was built
by the Montford Missionaries and is dedicated as a place of peace
prayer, and pilgrimage. Discover flower and fauna shots around the
grounds.
LUNCH at the Grotto Cafe: indoor seating and outdoor tables with
sun umbrellas; reasonably-priced soups, salads, sandwiches, and dessert.

STOP #6
TOPSMEAD STATE FOREST
Buell Road, Litchfield
Former summer residence of Edith Morton Chase who left the house
and it's grounds to the state of Connecticut on her death in 1972.
Edith was the daughter of Henry Sabin Chase, the first president of the
Chase Brass and Copper Company in Waterbury- the brass Capitol of the
world!

Garden & Viewing Stand, Birding!
