Night Photography by Steve Labkoff, Sept 20. 7pm

 Night Photography By Steve Labkoff

via Zoom 7pm Sept. 20, 2021

Some of the most beautiful subjects in photography can only be seen after sunset.  The lights of cities, towns, and of course the night sky present opportunities for both interesting and inspiring images.  Steven Labkoff’s photography journey has taken him to the deserts of Israel to the mountains of Arizona, to the shores of the Chicago River,  and the bright lights of Manhattan in search of compelling images that can only be created at night.  In addition to his nighttime work, he’s also an accomplished astrophotographer and is one of the photography crew at the Westport Observatory, imaging everything from galaxies to nebulae.  His talk will give an introduction to shooting compelling images at night.  You will be able to gain confidence in your ability to shoot things like light trails, cityscapes, star trails, and perhaps, for the more adventurous, a nebula or galaxy.

Dr. Steven Labkoff is an award-winning photographer based in Stamford, Connecticut. Since the age of 9, Dr. Labkoff captures life as it happens through his lens.  His work captures life from unexpected perspectives. His goal is to provide a point of view on a subject that the viewer might not otherwise be able to see on their own. His work was published in newspapers, books and on websites.

From the grandeur of the Milky Way to the details on the wings of a butterfly or a bee, his work presents the world in ways that are simply not seen every day.  His photographic works include astro-, aerial-, time lapse, and macrophotography.  As storytelling is one of the main objectives of a professional photographer, he always attempts to tell a story with his work.

He is internationally recognized, having exhibitions on 3 continents from Europe, to Israel and across the US.  His numerous photography awards include national and regional awards in New York and New England.  He was a recipient of a Silver Medal in the PPA’s 2020 International Photography Competition, Best in Show, the 2020 Carriage Barn Photography Show, New Canaan, Connecticut, including TOPS in Connecticut 2019, Photographer of the Year 2019, Photograph-of-the-Year 2018 at the Stamford Photography Club and Best in Show at the Dutchess Regional Professional Photographers Club, a regional PPA club.  His work has been in several juried shows across the region.  He is available for commission work for stills, landscapes, and drone photography.
