Mark will
share his approach for creating images that tell a story that express a mood
and communicate an idea. Topics covered will include lighting tips, suggested
gear, compositional strategies and working through a shot to get images that
have a strong underlying compositional structure.
Mark Battista is a nationally recognized painter and fine art photographer who specializes in still life and portraiture. His still life images have a painterly, expressive quality. Symbols and metaphors are used to speak of memory, dreams and desires.
Mark earned a BFA degree in Illustration from Paier College of Art and later continued his education to earn an MS Degree in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University.
In addition to working as a fine artist and photographer, Mark is a presenter of workshops related to painting and photography. Recently he was invited to present multiple workshops and presentations to members of the NECCC at UMASS College at Amherst for a 4 day photo conference.
Battista is an elected member of the historic Salmagundi Club and recently had work selected for an internationally photography exhibit that was mounted in Rome. He regularly exhibits in New York city with International and National juried exhibits.
Mark has been a featured artist for Ampersand Art Materials and has had his work featured on their website and promotional materials. In addition, he has recently completed an e book titled, “Still Life Photography: A Painterly Approach”. The book explores his approach to applying lessons learned as a painter to creating the photographic image.
Mark resides with his family in North Haven, CT.
