Nationally recognized landmark!
Hartford’s nationally recognized Cedar Hill Cemetery was established in 1864 and comprises 270 acres with more than 320,000 graves and memorials. Its reputation as a premiere example of the American “rural” cemetery is enhanced by its historic landscape, finely sculpted monuments and natural resources. The Cemetery’s landscape and “ornamental foreground” of ponds and meadows is unique in New England cemetery design.
MEET: Information board near entrance
Parking is right inside the entrance.
Since the cemetery is so large with many different areas, we will be driving around and stopping at several places.

The Branford Supply Pond in Fall
DATE & TIME: Thursday, October 15 @ 9:00 am (rain date 10/17)
PLACE: Branford Supply Pond, 86 Short Rocks Road, Branford, CT, Branford, CT
A hidden gem along the shore!
This popular recreation area is heavily used by walkers, runners, mountain bikers, fishermen, bird watchers, and those just seeking a beautiful place to be. It’s been 51 years since the Town of Branford purchased the Supply Ponds from the New Haven Water Company. Today, the original 330-acre purchase has grown to encompass approximately 1,100 acres of protected open space. Stretching from I-95 to the border with North Branford, the area is more aptly referred to as the Supply Pond and Pisgah Brook Preserves. Yet most activity still occurs in the original 330 acres. We’ll just be in a few of them.
MEET: Parking spaces near bridge
As you travel along either road into the park, there is pullover parking towards the back of the pond on both sides of the bridge.
