Monday -- Bill Barnet presents "Beyond Human Vision"

Beyond Human Vision describes digital techniques for producing photographs using radiation from the near infrared part of the spectrum. Words like wow, ethereal, surreal, dreamlike, and different have been used to describe the resulting photographs.

The lecture is divided into three parts:

1. First, an introduction concerned principally with the Why? and What? of infrared photography will be presented. A short introduction to infrared radiation (which is invisible to humans) and how it interacts with the natural world will be included.

2. Second, the equipment needed (cameras and filters) will be described in detail. Possible problems and how to avoid or minimize them will also be covered.
3. Third, editing the photographs including the steps required to optimize infrared images will be described. Both Lightroom and Photoshop are used, though other programs should produce similar results. A few creative techniques using infrared images will also be included.

The presentation will end with a short showcase of infrared images photographed by the author.
