Competition Changes for 2016-17 Season

Competition Changes for 2016-17 Season

Photo Contest Pro has already been set up to handle your entries into our first competition of the 2016-17 season.

As you prepare to submit your images into competition, you should be aware of some changes in the categories. We will continue to have Class A Open and Class B Open. In these categories, anything goes - any subject matter, any style. Two images per maker are allowed in the open classes. Monochrome will be divided into Monochrome - Class A and Monochrome - Class B. The class you will enter will be the same as your open class. The reason for the change is to balance the entries and allow more ribbons to be given. One image per maker is allowed in Monochrome.

The Assigned Subject category will also be divided into Assigned Subject - Class A and Assigned Subject - Class B. Again the category you will enter will be the same as your open class. One image per maker is allowed in Assigned Subject.

Image Artistry (Creative) will not be divided into classes at this time. One image per maker is allowed in Image Artistry.

A new category has been added for this year. It is called "Image Critique." These images will not be scored but will be critiqued by the judges. The idea is to allow our members to get feedback on certain images without the pressure of the scores. Perhaps you are trying a new technique and you aren't sure about how it will be received. Here's your chance to have that image critiqued. You could then elect to put the image into regular competition next season. One image per maker is allowed in Image Critique.

The images in the Image Critique category will definitely get a comment from a judge. You don't need to mark the image to say that you want a comment. You are still welcome to put a C or the word Comment in the title of one image of your choice in any category. We will try to honor those requests if time permits.

If you have any questions about these changes, contact Paul Peterson, our VP for Inside Competitions.
